Hellas Farms: ready to eat beans
Mediterranean – Hellas Farm Giovanni will be here for probably the last time, with his ready to eat beans, oils and more.
Preserves – Creative All Sorts Christine says “This week I’ll have loads of tasty products to get you stocked up for the holidays. Gin and Lime Marmalade is back by popular demand, plus some other tasty jams and jellies for toast, crumpets, pancakes and desserts. There are 5 different chutneys including a couple of tomato chutneys that will make your holiday cheese boards sit up and beg for more. I will also have pickles and jellies to complement your savoury dishes. Apart from this, I’ll have some Fallen Leaves ceramic t-light holders and some cute Christmas tree deccies.”

Wine – Le Grappin Emma says “We’re excited to be back at the market twice before Christmas. This week we’ll have our tasty #BOJONUVO by #refill that we famously drove back from Beaune last week, #Bagnums and bottles for feasting and gifting. Say hi to Sarah who was “Press Queen” at harvest and can share the true stories of life on the sorting table!”

Check out this site for some very interesting information on gluten intolerance. It may not be the gluten, but the high levels of fructans in wheat that are causing you trouble. Try the spelt litmus test for yourself – we stock both grain and flours grown on Sharpham Park Farm in Somerset.

Cakes – Brett & Bailey Joe says “Yes, we know it’s still November (or December Eve as I like to call it) but we just couldn’t wait any longer to go full-on festive! Not only will we have our luxury handmade Christmas cakes and puddings on the stall, but we’ll have the return of a couple of winter favourites: chestnut cheesecake dusted with fine, Fairtrade organic cocoa, and our glamorous “White Christmas” cake – a Cointreau-drizzled confection with lashings of white chocolate buttercream, and adorned with sparkling spiced cranberries.
The season continues with chocolate clementine cake (with home-candied peel), apple and salted caramel cake, pumpkin pecan pie (as featured in both Metro and Time Out so far this month), and slabs of sticky date cake – put it in your microwave for just a minute to get an almost-instant sticky toffee pudding.
We’ll also be bringing a basket full of indulgent white chocolate, cranberry and clementine cookies; our favourite brownies with pecans, white chocolate chunks and fleur de sel; double carrot cake; peanut butter bars; sticky buns; stollen swirls (one of London’s best stollen according to About Time Magazine); and our full range of scrumptious homemade jams. Local growing project – Patchwork Farm (a Crystal Palace Transition Town project), selling locally grown food from our community gardens & gluts. Christine says “Now is a really good time to jump in and do a shift at the Patchwork Farm Stall. With the cold weather there’s not much produce coming in at the moment, so it’s a good time to dip your toes in the water (not literally I hope!), learn the ropes and have a chat to some of our lovely customers. The shifts are from 11am until 12.30pm or 12.30 until 2pm, although you’re welcome to stay longer. You’re welcome to bring along a friend or two – the more the merrier!” Email Christine to find out more.

Meat – Gill Wing Farm Meat produced sustainably in East Sussex and Kent. Andrew butchers much of the meat himself – find him on the stall most weeks. We will have all of our usual favourites plus plenty of this seasons fish such as – Wild Sussex Sea Bass; South Coast Cod; Beautiful Line Caught Mackerel; A selection of Prime Flat Fish, Plaice, Turbot, Brill & Soles; Cornish Shellfish, Mussels & Oysters; Our own Smoked, Haddock, Salmon, Mackerel & Trout.

She says “The soup for Saturday is Carrot, Cumin & Roast Cashew – made with Wild Country organic carrots, cumin from The Storecupboard, Ross’ amazing smoked cashew butter, roasted onions, garlic, lemon and homemade stock (made with veggies from Brockmans). It’s delicious and really good for you. Colin’s making his famous sourdough to serve alongside. £4 for a bowl with sprinkles (cashew dust, chilli seeds & chopped parsley) / £5 with organic sourdough + raw Hook Farm butter.”
