Guest stalls this week
Simply Tay: Curry for lunch
Guest lunch – Simply Tay Vegetarian or meat curry, and samosas, made by local Tayyaba. She says “I’m making chicken with chickpeas; spicy fish curry; cauliflower potato curry. All served with pilau rice and daahl. Plus, of course, lots of samosas.”
Cheese & cured meats – Capo Caccia Sardinian cheeses & charcuterie. Antonio says “This week we have myrtle leaves gluten free salami, organic creamy ricotta, 24th months pecorino granglona and two sheep milk blue cheeses.”
Flowers – ClaraFlora Locally grown blooms.
Gluten free/dairy free/yeast free – Elvira’s Secret Pantry Sweets, savouries & bread. This week Elvira is making us “Cakes – NEW blueberry tart, carrot & pistachio, pumpkin & chocolate, raw & sugar free seeded energy bars, spiced apple, chocolate and pear, NEW lemon tart, vegan chocolate & cranberry mini loaves. Savouries -NEW muffin frittatas, asparagus quiche, spinach & leek tart, mushroom tart, courgette & aubergine tart, vegan tomato tartlets.”

World food/vegan – Return to Shashamane Emilia is cooking up “Chickpea salad with wakame seaweed; kidney beans with cardamom seeds & fresh tarragon, butter beans with dill parsley chives; lentils with cloves, mint & garlic; Mexican street salad with cabbage & chillies; kale salad with a fresh turmeric dressing & sunflower seeds; fresh coriander sauce with chillies & garlic; hummus; raw tabouleh (cauliflower salad); spicy sauce with cayenne pepper; quinoa salad with linseed , basil and pomegranate.”
Eat & Mess: Chef Kate
Cakes – Eat & Mess Made by Kate in Haynes Lane – literally next door to the market. Kate’s in the middle of making her own wedding cake, so she hasn’t had time to let me know what she’ll be bringing us for the market. We know it will be delicious!
Wine – Le Grappin Emma says “It’s been #Bagnum-tastic since we last visited the market. We’ve been on BBC Radio 4 and in the Daily Mail talking about the benefits of bagged wine. Grab one from Emma on Saturday or bring back your refill bottle for the cheapest, most eco way to buy wine – our #wineontap is as fresh as it left the winery.”
Beer – Hiver Beer Simon says “Hello Crystal Palace! We’ve got great news as you can now find us at the market on the first AND third Saturday of every month. We’re delighted to be able to spend more time with you! This week, as well as the usual beers and honeys to taste and take away we’ll also be selling tickets to our beekeeping and beer tasting experience which runs on Saturday’s and Sunday’s in Kennington Park and has been hugely popular so far. Ask Matt on the stand for more details.”
Handmade pasta – Pastificio Mansi Emanuela tells me “Ciao bella, for Saturday we have: Truffle ravioli; meat tortellini; aubergine & salted ricotta ravioli; broad beans, peas & goats cheese halfmoon; spinach and ricotta ravioli; tomato sauce; basil pesto; and hopefully a good looking guy selling everything.” (Goodness!)
Preserves – Imogeni Home made jams, jellies & chutneys just like your granny used to make.

Lou says “This week at the market we will have courgette and bean plants which are ready and raring to grow- must go! Also herbs – sage and borage and a few remaining strawberry plants.” Plus get your copy of 21 stories from Transition book – where the market & Patchwork Farm are featured.
Fish – Veasey’s Dan says “It’s Crab-stravaganza Saturday! We have had plenty of crabs in the pots this week, they must be coming in-shore looking for sun (aren’t we all) This week only all whole cooked crab will be £5.00 each – get in early to snatch up a big one and potentially save yourself 50% off the normal price. And if there are any small ones left at the end of the day they will go for even less!
Expect plenty of the other Summer favourites such as hot smoked salmon, wild prawns, sushi quality tuna and mackerel. More of our own smoked fish will be on offer too. P.S.
