Veg news: Wild Country are tomato-tastic at the moment – such an amazing range of colours and flavours. Their french beans are still in season (the nicest beans I’ve ever tasted) and their spaceship looking aubergines are gorgeous. Brockmans have a few specials on this week – Jason tells me the courgettes, tomatoes and cucumbers will be on sale. Also, worth checking by their stall at the end of the day – you might find some extra bargains. Brambletye are blissed out on sun & fresh air, so a bit thin on news. The apples aren’t far from ripening, there are berries aplenty and their eggs are always eggsellent. (I do apologise) As always, our own Patchwork Farm stall will be selling locally grown salad, herbs and more.
Bread news: Bread Bread fans can get their loaves from The Grain Grocer in the Haynes Lane courtyard. On the next door stall Chas & Momo will have a wide range of baguettes, sourdough, brioche, croissant, and whatever else Chas cooks up on Friday night in his Thornton Heath bakery. Check him out & check out his excellent prices.
In the Haynes Lane Courtyard (we’ve expanded)
Handmade bread, savouries etc from Chas & Momo: In the courtyard, next the the Grain Grocer. Baguettes, sourdough, rye, croissant, brioche, quite possibly sausage rolls… and more.
Store cupboard refills from The Grain Grocer: As well as the usual cleaning products, flours, nuts, oils etc, this week you can make your own muesli mixes. Also, Wade, Tara & Isa will be stocking some organic Bread Bread loaves.
Antenna’s Coffee Stall – tea, coffee & snacks
In the Antenna car park (where we’ve always been)
Meat of the week: Spicy merguez sausages, made with lamb from Jayne & Michael’s farm in Forest Row, East Sussex. £10kg, down from £12.
Raw/vegan/organic from Love Bites: Depending on how quickly it dries and how delicious it is, Lai-si & Samuel may have a lovely breakfast of cashew/ sunflower butter and blueberry jam piled atop a ‘waffle/pancake’! In addition to their three breads, sarnies and a lovely fresh sprout, green pea, parsley and kale salad with sundried tomatoes and a choice of dressing. Also going for a little bit of dark choc sprinkled liberally with cacao nibs and a pinch of salt.
Stonebaked pizza from Forno Viaggiante: Giancarlo makes his pizzas fresh to order in his lovely Citroen van.
NEW STALL Carob Pod: Winner of the Biscuits and Bites category of the Great Brixton Bake Off, 2013. Cakes, stuffed Greek style savouries, jam & marmalade.
