THAMES WATER…
…say the water pipe replacement works are due to finish on 31 January. These works were not related to the leak which affected basements between the Sparrowhawk pub and Your Move estate agents on Westow Street, added a spokeswoman.
GOOD NEWS: THE FOOD MARKET’S BACK! BAD NEWS: THEY’VE BEEN HACKED – DON’T OPEN THAT INVOICE – IT AIN’T FROM THEM!
Saturday 7th January
If you’ve had an email with an invoice from us, please don’t open it – we’ve been hacked. We’re still in the process of sorting it out (thank you Tim Sharville) so please be patient with emails etc.
On a happier note, the market is back up and running this Saturday and we might be able to help you with any food resolutions you may have made. All our farm fruits and veg are organic or biodynamic and freshly picked for the markets – so much better for juicing than their supermarket counterparts. And if you’re trying to be more eco, then most of our farms are in Kent and East Sussex and our other products are made locally, helping to reduce your carbon footprint. Here’s to a healthy 2017!

“PARIS, PARIS – WE’RE ON OUR WAY TO PARIS” – Fancy cycling there for St Christopher’s hospice?
St Christopher’s hospice in Sydenham celebrates its 50th birthday this year – and to celebrate they are going to Paris!
We are looking for cyclists to take on our London to Paris in June 2017, whilst raising funds for the hospice. This cycle takes you through beautiful English villages and into the stunning countryside of rural France. You’ll pass historical landmarks and famous battlefields from World War I until you reach Paris, undoubtedly one of the most magical places on earth. The sense of achievement you’ll experience will be one you’ll cherish forever – the Eiffel Tower awaits you.
How fit do I need to be?
You don’t need to be a fitness fanatic to do this challenge. The majority of people will be just like you and will not necessarily have done anything like this before. However the fundraising team and the experienced tour reps will be on hand every step of the way to provide training advice so you get maximum enjoyment from the challenge.
So go on, be one of our 50 cyclists, celebrating 50 year’s of St Christopher’s. This is the first time we have ever done a bespoke challenge and we promise it will be an unforgettable experience. 42 riders have already signed up. (Source: St Christopher’s hospice website)
HRH PRINCESS ALEXANDRA VISITS ST CHRISTOPHER’S
St Christopher’s was delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra to the hospice in Sydenham on Wednesday 14 December. The Princess is patron of the hospice and visits every year at Christmas.
Her Royal Highness was greeted by Morgan Jones, chairman of St Christopher’s board and St Christopher’s joint chief executives Heather Richardson and Shaun O’Leary.
On arrival, the Princess was shown one of the floats that St Christopher’s is creating to take part in London’s New Year’s Day Parade, representing the borough of Lambeth. The float is the height of a double-decker bus and celebrates St Christopher’s 50th anniversary in 2017 with the theme of ‘Pegasus and The Circle of Life’.
Her Royal Highness saw the finishing touches being made to the float, which has been lovingly created by patients, staff, supporters and volunteers at St Christopher’s.
Her Royal Highness was then taken on a tour of the wards by Anne Nash, matron of the inpatient unit, where the Princess met with patients and spoke to their families.
The Princess then joined over 100 invited hospice supporters, friends and patients in the Anniversary Centre, where the Princess spoke to guests over tea and cake. (Source: St Christopher’s hospice website)
