Cake – Brett & Bailey The cake gossip this week goes like this “Look out for the return of two summer favourites this weekend! First up, our Melba squares come bursting with succulent peaches and raspberries, baked into a super-moist almond and yoghurt sponge. We’ll also have lemon and almond meringue cake, layered with plump blackberries and liberally splashed with amaretto.
Elsewhere on the cake parade we’ll have Top Banana cake with salted dulce de leche and banana milkshake buttercream; double carrot cake; baked summer berry cheesecake; and limoncello-drizzled strawberry and white chocolate gateau. We’ll also have brand new cherry bakewell slices (come and find out what an exceedingly good one actually tastes like); peanut butter bars; pecan and white chocolate chunk brownies; triple chocolate cookies; and a big basket of sticky buns.
Finally, while we’ve got the drinks cabinet open, this weekend’s bomboloni will come filled with Italian amaretto custard. See you soon!”

Clarkshaws: Local beer
Beer – Clarkshaw Brewery Lucy says “Voting closes for the Urban Food Awards today. Clarkshaws are in the running for the Beautiful Brew Award for their Hellhound British IPA and need your support to make it to the final! Vote here.”
Wine – Wine Scouts Pedro will be opening “MENGOBA BREZO BLANCO from Bierzo, Spain ORGANIC. This energetic, textural white wine is a blend of 80% Godello and 20% Doña Blanca sourced from a variety of highland Bierzo terroirs. The Godello comes mostly from the stony Carracedo site as well as some clay/limestone plots in Valtuille and Villafranca del Bierzo. The Doña Blanca hails from similar sites but also includes some older vine material from the slate soils of Espanillo. Par for the cause, the 2015 is mouth filling yet vividly fresh with the kind of interest and vibrant energy so rare in whites at this price. Aromas and flavours remind of fresh mint, citrus, white blossom and gin botanicals. It is both textural and crunchy fresh – if that makes sense. If anything it’s a touch more elegant, silkier, longer and with more class than we have seen, yet it does not sacrifice the feisty, rock-hewn drinkability that we have come to know and love. Very good stuff.”
Preserves & more – Bickerton’s Rubs, sauces & loads of chilli goodness.
Elia Olive Oils: Olives, oil and herbs
Olive oil & more – Elia Olive Oil George says “Special offer: 5 litre tin of organic olive oil £40! 5L tin non organic oil £30!”
Norwood Society – meet the team & find out about their projects. “In 1960 a group of far-sighted local citizens founded the Norwood Society. Their aim was not just to keep our locality a pleasant place to live in, but also to preserve its heritage where possible and to bring to the public’s knowledge its history and the many famous people who, at some time in their lives, were its residents.”
Save The Central Hill Estate – Speak to the locals trying to save their homes. Karen says ” Come along to see what has been proposed for Central Hill and how it will affect the community. Plus you could sign our petition and the ASH petition, or buy some cool stuff – the proceeds of which go to our campaign fund.”
