‘MOLESTERS ON MOPEDS’ WARNING
WOMEN walking in the Crystal Palace Triangle area are being warned to beware of moped riders on pavements who then commit indecent assaults on them.
The warning comes in a Twitter feed on Crystal Palace Local which says: “Watch out ladies. “The tw*ts who ride mopeds up and down the streets have taken to riding up along pavements and grabbing you (inappropriately) as they pass. “Idiots.”
The warning prompted a huge stream of differing responses – along with suggestions on how to deal with the molesters on mopeds:
.”Why isn’t anyone doing anything? “It is not OK to be sexually abused as you walk down the road!!! “Those guys on the quad bikes and mopeds need to be stopped. “Where are the police?.”
“The point is they need to be arrested before they do have an accident… it’s a death wish driving without a helmet.”
“The reason they don’t wear helmets are the cops are NOT allowed to chase them in case of accidents!”
One suggestion on how to deal with the offenders was to have a “large washing line across the road, pulled up just as they pass by (I think I saw this on a Roadrunner cartoon).”
But another cautioned: “Tying lines across the road! “You will be done for attempted murder! “A farmer done it to stop green laners* riding legally off road past his farm, he got four years for ABH (actual bodily harm) and attempted murder and this was in Surrey two months back.”
“Press coverage and write to our MP about these problems.”
“Does anyone know where these kids come from / go to / times they are likely to be there?”
.”They are normally on Church Road between 8-10pm on an evening.”
“Someone must know where they live. “It’s not like they will pull up quietly.”
.
“I’m pretty sure one of them lives on St.Aubyns Road. “He sped out so fast from the driveway he nearly knocked into my pram. “When I told him to watch his speed he shouted a heck of a lot of profanities at me!”
*green lane – a type of road, usually an unpaved rural route.
