NORWOOD PLANNING ASSEMBLY
Norwood Planning Assembly hold their annual meeting on January 24th at the Salvation Army hall, 246 Norwood Road, West Norwood at 7pm.
The application for Norwood to be designated by Lambeth council under the Localism Act 2011 as a neighbourhood area and for the NPA to be the official Norwood neighbourhood forum has now been made.
The NPA say: The views of the people of Norwood will be an important part of this process. The formal 13 week decision period by Lambeth will be triggered once the NPA constitution has been ratified.
After the update on the bid for designation, including ratifying the constitution and electing officers, there will be an item on local planning matters including a presentation by the Elemento Group of their plans for a retail, housing and commercial development of Site 18 in the heart of West Norwood town centre.
Shaping the future land use, design and townscape of Norwood to create the Norwood (neighbourhood) Plan will be the biggest community project undertaken locally.
The plan will be produced by Norwood people for Norwood and ultimately will have to be approved by us all in a referendum. Decisions on planning applications must take account of this plan and it will also influence Lambeth policy.
At the meeting on the 24th, supporters will be invited to join a group of their choice (Housing, Site 18, Transport, Environment etc) to commence work on creating the plan whilst area designation is going through the final formal process.
The NPA is governed by, and accountable to, the Norwood Action Group (NAG) and the Norwood Forum and direct NPA members, meeting together as the planning assembly. Membership is open to Norwood residents, workers and businesses and volunteers.
