PALACE TRADER ORGANISES CHARITY SHOW TO RAISE MONEY FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS RESEARCH
A FUND-RAISING concert to raise money for Endometriosis UK is being held in Crystal Palace on Saturday October 24th.
The event – which has the support of a wide range of traders in Crystal Palace – is being organised by Dennis Brown, owner of D-Solo’s clothing shop which is next to the former cinema building at 25 Church Road where the show is being staged.
The bill includes the Vince Dunn orchestra; Aiden Kent who sings songs from the ‘Rat Pack’ era and Michelle John who has sung with the likes of Eric Clapton, Joss Stone and Will Young.
“A few close female friends – and even some of my female customers – have suffered the illness and I’ve seen how it affected and hampered their lives in such a way” says Dennis. “It had a huge effect.
“I felt it was a charity that needed some highlighting. “There’s a lot of charities out there that get a lot of support – this one doesn’t.”
Dennis doesn’t want to put a figure on how much he hopes to raise.
“It’s more to do with raising awareness of the condition and to raise money for research into the condition.
“Getting diagnosed is a battle in itself. “Doctors basically think ‘get on with it.’ ” I was talking to a friend this morning. “There’s too much scar tissue and she can’t have kids.”
The event is being sponsored by: Bambino; Joanna’s; Simon Carter; The Market restaurant; Renata Brown; Planta; Coconut Trading; Michael Brown; Boyce daRoca: IMove Property; Revitalize; Josephine’s; Numidie restaurant; Bookseller Crow; Training Points and Rafael Gabriel.
Tickets costing £55 for reception, drink and three course meal or £15 for balcony tickets for the show only, are available from D-Solo’s or from www.eventim.co.uk
