POLICE PROBE SCHOOL ‘CHILD COLLECTION’ BID
Police have released an image of a man they would like to identify in connection with an incident at a junior school in Thornton Heath.
The incident happened at approximately 12:20 hrs on Monday 21 July at Beulah Junior School, in Beulah Road.
A man attended the school and told staff he was there to collect a named child. Teachers spoke to the child, who did not recognise the man, but the man then left before staff were able to establish who he was.
Concerned about the incident, the school contacted police and detectives have been making enquiries to establish the identity of the man. However at this stage, it appears he is unknown to the child’s family and detectives are keen to establish his identity.
Det Con Stephen Hall, who is investigating the incident said: “This is an unusual incident, as it appears the man knew the child’s name, but his family are currently unaware who he was.
“We’re extremely keen to establish his identity so that we can get to the bottom of why he was there. “I would ask anyone who thinks they may recognise this person to get in touch with us.”
