ROTARY CLUBS MERGE
The Rotary Club of Crystal Palace and Norwood has merged with the Rotary Club of Dulwich and
Peckham.
The new club will be called The Rotary Club of Dulwich, Peckham and Crystal Palace.
“Both clubs have been long established in the area, and the merging of the two clubs will create one dynamic club who, with the experience and expertise of both sets of members, will be able to serve their local communities much better” said a spokeswoman..
“The new Club has many exciting projects and events planned, including a casino night, a race
night and a quiz night. “The merging of the the two clubs will also have benefit to the Interact Club of sixth formers at Virgo Fidelis school, Upper Norwood which was previously sponsored by The Rotary Club of Crystal Palace and Norwood.
“We will also be better placed to run the annual kids day out where disabled children are
taken to Chessington World of Adventures, and the senior citizens Christmas party.”
One of the club’s current community projects is to raise £900 to purchase six tablet computers to help people living with dementia access services run by the Dulwich Helpline and Southwark Churches Care.
“We will also be helping at the Dulwich Festival next year. “International projects include fundraising for Shelterbox and the End Polio Now Campaign, and a joint fundraising project for End Polio Now is in the pipeline with the Interact Club of Virgo Fidelis school. The new club will also be involved with a charity called Marys Meals, which provides school lunches for children in developing countries.
“We will be making up backpacks to be sent to children in these countries, containing essentials like toiletries and stationery.”
