SASHA SIEM ANNOUNCED AS HEADLINE ACT FOR SCANDIMANIA
British-Norwegian singer Sasha Siem will headline two nights of live music during Dulwich Picture Gallery’s spring culture festival, Scandimania: Norway and Beyond.
The line-up, this year inspired by the Norwegian world of landscape artist, Nikolai Astrup, will also include outdoor film screenings, workshops and family events with street food and market stalls in the grounds throughout the weekend.
Sasha Siem will follow EERA and Siv Jakobsen on stage in the Gallery’s spectacular grounds on Friday and Saturday evening. The sets will be followed by outdoor cinema screenings of cult Norwegian film Trollhunter (Friday 13 May) and Norwegian action thriller Headhunters (Saturday 14 May). Scandi street food and drinks will be available throughout the evening and Nikolai Astrup: Painting Norway will be open with guided tours on offer.
On Thursday evening renowned Norwegian designers, Arne and Carlos, will lead a special crochet workshop. With specialist guidance from the pair, budding knitters can hone their skills on their own projects and contribute to a bespoke large-scale work inspired by Astrup’s colourful landscapes.
Other highlights include Rosemåling painting workshops with Norwegian born artist, Bodil Walton, in the gardens and on Sunday a Nordic cinema marathon featuring shorts and award-winning feature-lengths specially curated by experts from the Nordic Film Festival. Films will include 7 Sami Stories, a collaborative project of seven short films telling life stories from the Sami community in Northern Norway.
Throughout the weekend between 10am and 5pm visitors can enjoy free entry to the site to peruse a variety of Scandi market stalls selling gifts and homeware. Vendors include Choice of Scandinavia and Nordic Nic Nac.
Scandimania: Norway and Beyond is part of Museums at Night, the annual UK-wide weekend of late openings at arts and heritage venues, which captures people’s imaginations and encourages audiences to do something different with their evening.
