Saturday 16 August
In the Haynes Lane Courtyard (we’ve expanded)
Handmade bread, savouries etc from Chas & Momo: In the courtyard, next to the Grain Grocer. Baguettes, sourdough, rye, croissant, brioche, all sorts of baked treats. Want something in particular? Just ask them – Chas makes everything himself in their bakery in Thornton Heath.
Store cupboard refills from the Grain Grocer: As well as nuts, seeds, pulses etc, did you know the Grain Grocer also sells extra virgin olive oil, raw coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, tamari, maple syrup, peanut butter, tahini and more. All organic. It’s a little Aladdin’s Grocery Cave in there!
Bread Bread: Organic loaves available from the Grain Grocer.
In the Antenna car park (where we’ve always been)
Fresh flowers: Clare is back this week with her home grown blooms.
Fish: With spring tides this week (high & strong tides) it’s been a difficult week for fishing. Dan promises us fish, just not sure exactly what yet. He’s never let us down, so come along tomorrow to find out what they’ve managed to catch.
Meat of the week: 20% off organic, pasture fed sirloin, raised on Brockmans Farm, 65 miles away in Kent. All of the meat on the Jacob’s Ladder stall is pasture fed, GM free and the animals are kept to the highest standards.
Cheese of the week: Pouligny – a raw milk goats cheese, new this week. Jared & Toby hand select the cheeses every week, at the peak of their flavour.
Raw/vegan/superfoody from Love Bites: crackers, sarnies, flapjacks, cookies, summer squash pasta with pickled mushrooms & fennel pesto, mixed sprout salad, hand rolled sushi and a mezze platter. Plus cacao energy shots.
Patchwork Farm: Imogen wil be on the Patchwork Farm stall with her home made preserves. Also locally grown plums, courgettes, salad, herbs, and whatever else local gardeners bring in to sell or swap.
Lunch from Forno Viaggiante: Stone baked pizza, made fresh to order by Giancarlo in his lovely Citroen van.
Fruit, veg & farm news: Brambletye… Look out for apple juice (the best ever, imho!) coming next week. Good news from the farm – their barn is almost rebuilt after the awful fire last year. Brockmans… Corn on the cob 2 for £1.50, 3 variety of courgettes £2.50kg, two varieties of kohl rabi, cherry toms 2 punnets for £3, + oranges and peaches. Wild Country… As well as their famous tomatoes, they have a great selection of herbs, edible flowers and salad.
Sarina is back fresh from hols, giving relaxing hand massages with her Neals Yard products. She’s raising money for a CPTT event coming up in September.
Gluten free/yeast free/dairy free from Elvira’s Secret Pantry: Cakes: carrot, courgette, lavender, rhubarb-plum, raspberry-rosewater, blueberry-lemon, jam crostata, nutty brownie. Savoury tarts: mixed vegetables, spinach-leek, tomatoes-olives, asparagus. Plus gluten-wheat free breads and homemade ginger-mint lemonade.
Handmade Palace: Art work, crafts, gifts and cards all by talented local makers for sale.
Kids – 11-12pm in Westow Park – Bugs Club: Charlotte & Vinnie will be running the kiddies nature club weekly until end of August, then monthly.
Do you have any old tshirts lying about? Rockmount School are making upcycled carrier bags out of old tshirts and they will be sold at the market in the coming weeks. This project is part of the schools Green Day, and also has the added benefit of reducing plastic bag use. Please drop off tshirty donations to the Patchwork Farm stall.
