FUN DAY IN WESTOW PARK ….
FRIENDS OF WESTOW Park are holding their autumn fun day this Sunday (7th) with a number of activities happening between 12 and 4pm including:
- scootathon races for children: one lap of the park on a scooter and one on foot with medals for the first 100 children, Pre-race bookings can be made at Secret Cafe in the park and on the day. Helmets are recommended to be worn. Organised by the sports mad owners of the Secret Cafe
- Children’s bug club to be help in the community edible garden organised by the Transition Town crew
- Local artist-led design workshop to design a new look for the much loved horse in the playground
- Planting of new trees and planting in the playground
- Official opening of the latest stage to the playground works as funded by Community Spaces
Westow Park stands behind Sainsbury’s with access available from Coxwell Road which stands to the left of Sainsbury’s and other entrances from Church Road, Bedwardine Road etc.

……AND BOOKS FOR JUST 50p IN HAYNES LANE MARKET
A 50p BOOK sale is being held in Haynes Lane Market until Tuesday October 23rd. History, political, travel, paperback fiction etc are priced at 50p or three for £1.
The second hand market – described as Upper Norwood’s best-kept secret – is just off Westow Street and contains a veritable cornucopia of vinyl, CDs, china, furniture, retro clothing, kitchenalia etc spread over two floors.
The book sale can be found down the slope at the rear of the lower floor. The market is open Saturdays from 11 am to 6pm and on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 11 am to 5pm.
