THE LATEST SCAM – YOU COULDN’T MAKE IT UP…….
Southwark council say they have been made aware of a new scam where drivers are being issued with fake penalty notices.
The notices claim to be sent from a company working on behalf of Southwark council – NSL – and ask for a penalty charge for illegal parking. Southwark council does not use this company.
Southwark’s cabinet member for environment and public realm Cllr Darren Merrill said: “I’m pleased to say that we’ve only had a handful of enquiries about fake penalty charge notices since this came to light.
“But I would urge residents to remain vigilant and let us know if they do receive one of these fake notices so that we can pass them on to the police.” (Source: Southwark council press release)
