….AND LONDON LOVES THE FOOD MARKET
Saturday 19 November
BOLD On Monday night we attended the LoveLondon Awards as winners in the shop category for Crystal Palace. We wish the awards didn’t pitch business against business but could instead celebrate all the amazing shops we have here, but we’re also really really touched that the market won.
A massive thank you to everyone who voted for us, to all our local stallholders, to the fishermen and farmers who come up week after week, to all the artists on Handmade Palace, to the volunteers who set-up and take-down the stalls and keep our Patchwork Farm stall running, to Steve for running Buskers Paradise, to Antenna for everything they do for us, and, of course, to all of our customers that choose to shop here.
We’re proud to be part of Crystal Palace Transition Town, doing our bit to help this corner of the world become a more sustainable and resilient in an uncertain world, where climate change is fast becoming an undeniable reality.

Made by hand in Crystal Palace, our luxury Christmas puddings – available in two sizes, serving up to five or ten – feature a decadent mix of fruits, including figs and cranberries. We soak them in fine Pedro Ximénez sherry, before folding them into our traditional pudding recipe with plenty of warming spices, and then giving each one a long, slow steam. We then feed them with liberal glugs of aged VSOP calvados, before wrapping them beautifully, all ready for Christmas.
Meanwhile, our handmade Christmas cakes feature bourbon-soaked figs and cherries, plenty of pecans, and delicate spice. Once baked, they’re given regular splashes of even more bourbon to get it (and you) into the Christmas spirit. Choose a cake topped with shimmering glazed fruits and nuts upon a fine dark chocolate slab, or a version with more traditional marzipan, royal icing and adorable robin decoration.
You can find all of the above on the stall tomorrow, along with delectable treats by the slice including double carrot cake, chocolate and clementine cake, apple and salted caramel cake, Ambassador’s cheesecake, ginger and caramelised orange cake, and plum crumble cake.
We’ll also have indulgent dark chocolate brownies with fleur de sel, sticky buns, peanut butter bars, pumpkin pecan pie, milk chocolate and orange cookies, our full range of handmade jams, and a big batch of stollen swirls.
