Summer Reading Challenge
Roll up, roll up all 5 to 11 year olds! Sign up any time now during the school holidays. Can you complete the challenge to read 6 books this summer by 5th September?
The 2015 theme is ‘Record Breakers’, celebrating 60 years of theGuinness World Records™ in partnership with The Reading Agency.
We have lots of fun things for you to do in August as well as rewards to give out for each of the 6 books you read, finishing with a certificate, a medal and an invitation to continue with our Christmas Challenge!
In addition we will be having story telling, drama and fun activities on the 5 Saturdays of August from 2 – 4pm for children aged 5 -11 and their parents so if you are not away on holiday please do
come along. Suggested donation of £2 welcomed.
Waggle and Hum: This is our popular songs & rhymes session for babies aged 0-2years. This happens on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am all year round. Only £1 per baby (or more if you wish).
Our Waggle and Hum for Dads happens at 10.30am on alternate Saturdays. The next one in the library will be on 29th August. However, in September they will be on 19th (swapped from 12th) & 26th.
If mums are unable to attend on Tues or Thurs, you may come to the Saturday ones, or send Dad!
Sing-a-Story: 9.45am every Thursday. This singing/story session is for older babies/younger toddlers aged 15 months to 3 years all year round. Fee: £1 (or more if you wish) per child of that age. Older or younger siblings are allowed to join in for free.
Usborne Book Fair: Kate O’Sullivan is back! She will be coming with some lovely new books for you to buy in the library on Tuesday 25th August 9.30am to 5pm; Thursday 27th August 9.30am to 5pm. All books sold help raise points towards new books for the library.

Reading Group for adults (16+): The next meeting will be held in the library on Saturday 29th August from 2.30pm to 3.30pm The book to be discussed is Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey. The book to be discussed on Saturday 26th September at 2.30pm is The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber. Please let Rita know if you are interested in attending: [email protected]
Stitch Pitch (craft group) for adults (16+) will be in the library on the following Mondays from 10am – 1pm £2/3 per session:. 7th & 21st September – please talk to Fiona for more details.
