Kennington Noir presents: A Dark Corner Thurs Dec 8th @ 7:30pm
The Dark Corner (1946) concerns a private eye who has moved to New York to start over after having been framed for a crime in San Francisco. But who is the mysterious man in the white suit who is tailing him? Lucille Ball, still several years before I Love Lucy fame, is the detective’s secretary who tries to save him from a sordid tale of deceit and murder. Find out more here

Four Films By Jim Hubbard: Screening + Q&A Fri 9th Dec @ 8pm
Jim Hubbard has been making experimental films that explore lesbian and gay activism and community-building since the mid-1970s. For this rare UK screening, Hubbard will show four short films that were shot in the 1970s and 1980s, and that deal with themes of loss, memory, activism, and empowerment: Stop the Movie (Cruising) (1980), Two Marches (1991), Elegy in the Streets (1989), and Speak for Yourself (1990). The films we intend to show on December 10th are Big Business(1929), a silent short directed by James W. Horne and Leo McCarey; Below Zero (1930), short directed by James Parrott; Laughing Gravy(1931), short directed by James W. Horne; The Chimp (1932), short directed by James Parrott; and Babes in Toyland (1934), directed by Gus Meins and Charley Rogers. Click here for ticket price details.
Misty Moon Film Society Presents: A Fenella Christmas Evening Sat Dec 10th @ 7:30pm
Fenella Fielding returns to the museum to talk about her remarkable career in theatre, film, TV and radio. In particular, the evening will be a celebration of Fenella’s film roles that began in 1959 with Sapphire. Subsequent titles include Foxhole In Cairo, The Old Dark House and then a run of very successful comedy roles: various Doctor films (most notably as Tatiana Rubikov in Doctor in Clover), Carry On Regardless, and of course, her iconic Valeria Watt in Carry On Screaming. This was followed by a role in the big MGM production starring Tony Curtis, Drop Dead Darling.

French Sundaes: Le Dernier Metro (1980) Sun 11th Dec @ 2:30pm
The theme this season is the ‘The Cinema of Resistance’.
Le Dernier Métro (The Last Metro) is a 1980 drama written and directed by François Truffaut, and starring Catherine Deneuve and Gérard Depardieu. The film is set during the time of the French occupation. It demonstrates passive resistance through culture in the story of a small Parisian theatre surviving censorship, anti semitism and material shortages to emerge triumphant at the war’s end.
