CHRISTIE and Co have found a buyer for the Cambridge pub on the corner of Church Road and Westow Hill.

A spokesman for the licensed property agents said: “We have  exchanged contracts but not completed. “As you can imagine we are not able to give you a press release and further information until the deal has completed. “This is due in August and we will send out a press release then with much more information.
“Pedders are acting on behalf of the buyer and are trying to get the ground floor let in principal before he completes.”

PS: IF you’ve heard a rumour that Starbucks have bought the Cambridge it’s just a rumour, not true – and we know who started it!!!

….while former Queens Arms is on the market (again).

THE FORMER Queen’s Arms pub at 23 Westow Hill is on the market freehold with vacant possession for £725,000 through Alder Grimes and Gooderham under it’s current – and possibly final – pub name of Pierre’s Bar. For some years the pub was known as the Black Sheep, closing its doors in October 2012 and re-opening in November 2012 as a short-lived tapas bar.
The agents say there is “potential for redevelopment / alternative uses subject to necessary consents.
A Punch Taverns spokesperson said: “It is always our preference that our pubs continue to trade as pubs. ”However, we do review our estate regularly and may explore other options around the future of our less sustainable sites, or where they might better fulfil their potential for the local community under different ownership. “Following a review, a commercial decision was made to market Pierre’s Bar for sale.”

WARNING ON FAKE £20 NOTES

CRYSTAL PALACE TRIANGLE safer neighbourhood team says there are a large number of fake £20 notes being distributed in the area – and using detector pens may not work.

The notes may be configured to react in the same way as genuine banknotes, says the SNT who are advising people NOT to rely on just one security feature but to check a few – such as:
  • the feel of the paper and the raised print
  • the watermark
  • the holograms
  • the metallic thread
